Service is something that has had a big impact on my life lately. I serve on a teen council for tennis, and we use our tennis skills to reach out and serve our community. The part I've attached myself to is our Ad-In group. This is a group of athletes who all have some sort of disability, mostly mental.
From the first moment I stepped out onto the court with my partner Michael, I felt the Lord calling me to get more involved with this program.
Their happiness is what gets me. After one day of playing with Michael he told me that he loved me. That is incredible. One tennis match and he loves me.

This past Friday I got to help out with our Area Special Olympics. There were so many athletes I got to work with; from 4 year olds like my buddy for the day Shamoonya, to 20 year olds like my former partner Michael. It just feels so special to be able to be a part of something greater than myself. As soon as I step out there my heart swells with gratitude to be able to serve God and my community.
This is why service has become so important to me lately. And until now, I hadn't found the best fit for myself
to serve my community. Being able to play tennis while helping others is a great medium, and I am so glad God has led me onto this path!
xoxo,
Rachel
